Last night Barack Obama was re-elected as the President of the United States. Over the past two months I have asked you to pray for our country and over the last two days I prayed and fasted for God’s mercy and God’s protection for His people in this country.

I asked God repeatedly to allow Mitt Romney to become president. I told God I wanted our nation to be run by a Capitalist not a Communist. I prayed for God to allow Mitt Romney to be president because I know that Barack Obama promotes partial birth abortion and that he also promotes the homosexual agenda. I do not want my grandchildren to grow up in a nation that promotes the murder of unborn children and promotes a life style that God calls an abomination. No matter how much I pled with God He allowed a majority of the American people to vote for a man, that rejects Bible values, promotes Communist ideals, and endorses openly the homosexual agenda!

Why did God allow this to happen?! Remember we believe the Bible. We believe that God puts people in power and removes people from power.

Romans 13:1-2, “Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.”

There is no escaping the truth from God’s Word that Barack Obama will serve another term as president because He has ordained it so!

So why has He ordained it.

Here are several possible answers:

  1. It may be that God hates the Theology of Mormonism more than the ungodly lifestyle of the homosexual and the murder of unborn children. It was the worship of false god’s that brought every other form of wickedness to the nation of Israel. It was this false worship that brought the ultimate judgment of God on the nation of Israel and its ultimate demise.

Ezekiel 16:52, “Thou also, which hast judged thy sisters, bear thine own shame for thy sins that thou hast committed more abominable than they: they are more righteous than thou: yea, be thou confounded also, and bear thy shame, in that thou hast justified thy sisters.”

Ezekiel 16, deals with the nation of Israel walking away from God to serve false god’s in verse 52, God says their actions were “more abominable” than the actions of Sodom.

I pled to God that He would allow this man (who believes he will be a god one day) to be elected. I argued he would be better that President Obama but obviously God didn’t agree.

  1. America has drifted away from God and righteousness. It has become unholy, unrighteous, self-centered, materialistic, and is in rebellion to God. A nation that is impure at its heart needs a strong government to control it.

If we are not governed from within we must be governed from without.

John Adams, our second president, said, “Our constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”

We have seen stricter gun laws and higher prices on gas, restricting our ability to move from place to place. Government controls on our business and on our personal freedoms will increase. This must happen in a nation that rejects God. God put it in the hearts of these people to elect a man who is promising liberty but is leading our nation into bondage

2 Peter 2:19, “While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage.”

Today we now have nine states that have legalize homosexual marriage; two more states fell last night. We also have two more states that have legalized the use of marijuana. This kind of legislation does not get reversed it will only get worse.

  1. God let us know through this election that America is no longer a Christian nation.

I was shocked when I watched the delegates at the Democratic convention “jeer” God and the nation of Israel. The majority of the people in this nation said, “No God,” through this election. That means this nation has become foolish.

Psalm 14:1, “The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.”

I believe this nation has had God’s blessing on it because it was founded by people who believed in the God of the Bible, Jesus Christ.

Psalm 33:12, “Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.”

I believe the righteousness of this nation exalted it in the eyes of the world.

Proverbs 14:34, “Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.”

But I also believe that our sin has become our reproach. God’s hand of protection has been removed from this nation it is obvious we are in the midst of His judgment.

Bible believing Christians are a minority and we need to recognize the fact that we live in a post Christian America.

The President was right four years ago when he said, “America is not a Christian nation.” How do we know that is true? Because the nation returned him to office knowing he said that. I would add “It was a Christian nation but we walked away from God.”

What Should We Do Now!

I.            First, Thank God for What He is Doing

1 Thessalonians 5:18, “In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”

Remember His ways are not our ways

Isaiah 55:9, “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.”

God knows what He is doing. I have been through several election cycles and have often been disappointed. I do not like the path our country is on but this is not the end. God may use this second term to bring America to repentance. I don’t know what God is doing.

By the way there are many things to be thankful for in this election.

  1. We saw close to 50% of our country does care about moral values- that’s encouraging
  2. This is not as bad as 2008, when the president was elected with a majority congress and no opposition to his communist agenda
  3. Many conservative Christians retained their seats in both the Senate and the Congress
  4. Four years from now the Republicans might give us a real conservative everyone can support

God is still in control even if we don’t understand what He is doing

II.            Remember that for 2,000 years Christians have lived in pagan cultures.

Here were Paul’s instructions to the believers in Philippi:

Philippians 2:14-15, “Do all things without murmurings and disputings: That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;

Our job as Christians is to “shine as lights” in the midst of darkness. That is what we must continue to do.

We may never see national repentance but we can see individuals saved. Our job is not to change the world but to show the world Jesus Christ.

Some have written and asked “Should we plan to move to another nation?”

My answer is, “No!”

We still have more freedom here than any other nation on earth. People are still doing all they can to come to America.

Look at yourself as a missionary on the mission field. We moved back to Las Vegas thirty-five years ago knowing that this city did not hold our values. We taught our children that this is our mission field. We are here to reach others for Christ. We are not to live like them but show Christ to the world.

That is your job in your mission field.

In Luke 9:1-5, “Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases. And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick. And he said unto them, Take nothing for your journey, neither staves, nor scrip, neither bread, neither money; neither have two coats apiece. And whatsoever house ye enter into, there abide, and thence depart. And whosoever will not receive you, when ye go out of that city, shake off the very dust from your feet for a testimony against them.”

The Lord sent His twelve disciples to different cities to preach the gospel He told them go and preach and if people receive them stay there. If they don’t want to hear you then leave. As long as Anna and I are seeing people saved in Las Vegas, are able to preach His Word, raise our children and help raise our grandchildren for the glory of God, and as long as God continues to provide we plan to stay put. I suggest you do the same.

III.            Raise your children to serve God

  1. Pray with them daily
  2. Teach them the Bible
  3. Provide them with a Christian education
  4. Be in church as often as possible so they are surrounded by Christian friends

IV.            Live within your means

  1. Make a budget
  2. Pay off your debts
  3. Establish an emergency fund
  4. Begin to develop a food pantry for tough economic times

(I believe they are coming)

V.            Live for the Lord

  1. Pray every day
  2. Worship God every day
  3. Tell everyone you know about Christ
  4. Invite everyone to your church to learn about God
  5. Give generously to God
  6. Treat others with respect and concern regardless of their ideology or political affiliation
  7. Show respect for authority
  8. Care for those in need
  9. Love the Lord Jesus with your whole heart

VI.            Don’t fret over evil doers

Trust in the Lord and do good

Psalm 37:1-5, “Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity. For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb. Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.”

VII.            Seek first the Kingdom of God

Matthew 6:33-34, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.”

Today God has taken care of you it is a good day. Rejoice in it “This is the day the Lord has made.” If you are living for the Lord and doing all you can for Him you leave it with Him. Don’t worry about tomorrow. Jesus said, “Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.”

Rejoice and go serve Jesus.

He is still in control!

    a wonderful as well as a warning insight on the way we pray. Our prayers should be for wisdom to do the will of God, not telling God what is best for ourselves or our nation. We are live by faith, not by Mormon Theology. Keep feeding the sheep.

    Greetings Pastor. I liked this very much. I think as far as reasons go, point one is the one I am most in agreement with. I think that now we need to be ready. Many will be enduring tough times in the near future. My own job may again come into jeopardy like it did in 09 as people make cuts in their spending. We can be there to be of help and show them the way to Christ.

    God is Love, not some kind of dictator that’s going to impose His will on mankind. If that’s what He wanted He could have made robots to do His perfect will. Instead Jesus loves His creation so much He gave mankind a free will so we could make the choice to love Him freely and not a forced love. After all, we were created in His image. Gen. 1:26. We have the ability to choose the free gift of salvation Jesus offers us or to reject His grace and mercy. We also have the right to choose the ways of the world, or His perfect will. Romans12:2.
    God will give a nation the leader which is a reflection of their heart. Isreal made a choice when they asked for a king. They lived in a Theocracy ruled by God Himself. They told Samuel they wanted to have a king and be just like everybody else. 1Sam. 8:5. God knew that wouldn’t be good for them, and warned them about that. Still the people made their choice.
    The people of America made their choice. After the years of taking God and the Bible out of school, replacing it with the teaching of socialism, America has become a different nation. She doesn’t have the same work ethic or moral values that this nation was founded on. As Christians the Bible tells us over and over to stand. Stand for God, the Bible, and the gospel, and we might just see revival in this nation. The gospel tracts aren’t going to ditribute themselves, and people aren’t generally going to come up to you and ask about how to be saved. We are the ones who have to get the word out in order to save this nation for our children. I don’t know how much time is left, but I do know it’s time to get busy! 1 Peter 4:17 ” For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? ” Thank You Pastor for always being an inspiration to me and my family!
